The PSAQ and Regional Queensland

The PSAQ has always attempted to keep in touch with Queensland’s real estate community as much as possible but, in the past, has been limited in its ability to service Regional Queensland.

However, through good financial management and strategic relationships, the PSAQ is now able to provide direct, face-to-face services to (almost) the entire eastern seaboard.

For the past eighteen months, Field Officer Mel Smith has regularly travelled to North Queensland, meeting with employees and employers on a “prevention is better than cure” basis – helping put together workplace agreements for employees.

Sunshine Coast-based Field Officer (and PSAQ Vice President) Tom French has been providing a similar service between Bribie Island and Rockhampton for even longer and, early this year, Tom implemented what we hope will become a regular occurrence – briefing and feedback sessions with PSAQ members and other interested parties.

The first, on the Sunshine Coast in February, was attended by approximately 100 people, and the second, in Hervey Bay, had over 30 participants. The PSAQ found both experiences to be very positive.

More such meetings are scheduled for late May, in Bundaberg, Gladstone and Rockhampton, and the valuable feedback will enable us to better serve our members, potential members and their employers.
